How this site pays for itself, and what that money does not buy.
The short version
- Advertising pays for the site. Google chooses which ads appear.
- No affiliate links exist on the site yet. When any appear, they get labelled.
- No advertiser, sponsor or partner sees a page before it publishes.
- Links never go up for money. Not once, at any price.
Advertising
The reader-facing pages carry Google AdSense. Google selects which ads appear, not this site. Payment arrives when ads get shown or clicked.
Two limits worth stating. Advertisers cannot buy a mention inside a chart page, and an ad appearing beside a chart implies no relationship whatsoever between that advertiser and the data being plotted.
The embed pages that other sites host carry no advertising code at all. Details sit on the privacy page.
Affiliate links
As of 26 July 2026 this site carries no affiliate links. Nothing published here earns a commission on a purchase.
That may change. Buyer guides comparing equipment such as home charging units would suit this site, and those guides typically carry links that pay a commission. If and when that happens, three rules apply:
- A visible label sits above the first such link on any page carrying them. No burying it in a footer.
- The commission never decides the ranking. A product placed first is placed first because the specifications put it there.
- This page gets updated the same day, naming which programmes pay and what they pay for.
Sponsorship
The weekly digest will carry a sponsor slot once the mailing list has the numbers to justify a rate. Sponsor material will sit in a marked slot, visually separate from the charts, and it will never masquerade as an editorial pick.
Anyone asking about audience size before then gets the honest figure, not an inflated one.
What money does not buy
- Which datasets get plotted. That follows what has a usable licence and what readers actually look at.
- What a chart shows. The numbers land as the source published them. No advertiser has ever asked otherwise, and the answer would be no.
- Removal of an inconvenient figure. A factual error gets corrected within 48 hours. A number somebody dislikes stays put.
- A link. Guest posts, paid placements and link swaps all get declined.
- Advance sight. Nobody beyond this site reads a page before it publishes.
Check the work yourself
Every chart page carries a method note naming the source, the licence, the date the data was pulled, and any judgement call made along the way. The underlying table sits on the same page. Anybody can follow the source link and check a figure against the original.
That transparency is the point. A site funded by advertising has to be checkable, or it has no standing to publish numbers at all.
The data itself
The datasets plotted here come from public sources released under open licences, and the charts get given away for reuse at no cost. Nobody pays to appear in a chart, and nobody pays to use one.
