Who runs this site

MobilityCharts publishes charts built from public transport datasets. It is operated by an individual based in Pakistan. Questions about this page can go to privacy@mobilitycharts.com.

Visitor measurement

This site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. By Vercel's description the service works without cookies and without building a profile that follows a visitor between sites. It records the kind of thing a page-view counter needs:

• which page got loaded, and when
• the referring site, if a link brought you here
• a rough country-level location, worked back from network address
• device type, browser and screen size band

This exists so that the writing gets aimed at what people actually read. It does not tell the site owner who you personally happen to be.

Advertising

This site carries Google AdSense. Google, and partners Google works with, may set cookies or read device identifiers to select ads, to cap how often the same ad appears, and to measure whether an ad worked. Some of that ad selection may draw on browsing history gathered across other sites, which is a Google mechanism rather than a MobilityCharts one.

Two things sit within your control:

• Personalised advertising can be switched off at Google Ad Settings, which applies across every site Google serves, not just this one.
• Any browser can block or clear third party cookies, which limits what advertising code can read.

Charts embedded on other sites

Charts published here can be embedded elsewhere at no cost. Those embed pages carry the visitor counter, so that embed reach can be measured. They deliberately carry no advertising code. Placing ads inside somebody else's article without that site owner agreeing would be wrong, so it does not happen.

Newsletter

The weekly digest is not live yet. When it launches it will run on Beehiiv, and an email address will only be stored after somebody types it into the subscribe box. Every issue will carry a one-click unsubscribe link. Addresses will not be sold, rented or shared with advertisers.

Until launch, the subscribe box on this site stores nothing at all.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel processes network requests in order to deliver pages, and keeps short-lived operational logs. That happens whether or not any analytics code runs.

What never gets collected

• Names, postal addresses or phone numbers
• Payment or card details. The site takes no payments
• Passwords. The site has no accounts to log into
• Precise location. Country level is as fine as it gets
• Anything a visitor uploads, because nothing can be uploaded

Data given to others

Nothing gets sold. No data goes to brokers. Information reaches only the service providers named above, Vercel and Google, and only so that they can do the jobs described here. A lawful order from a competent authority would be an exception, as it is for anybody.

Your choices

• Switch off personalised ads at Google Ad Settings.
• Block third party cookies in the browser.
• Use a tracker blocker. Nothing on this site breaks when analytics or ad code gets blocked. The charts keep working.
• Write to the address above to ask what is held. Given that visitor measurement names nobody, the honest answer will usually be that no record tied to you exists.

Children

This site publishes transport statistics and is not aimed at children. No age information gets requested and none gets stored.

Changes to this page

When practice changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. Material changes will also get a line in the newsletter once that exists.

Data licensing note

Separate matter, worth stating in one line: the datasets plotted here come from public sources released under open licences, and each chart page names its source and licence in the method note. That is about the data, not about visitors.
